As Chair of the Business Litigation Group, Dan handles a wide variety of complex business litigation and counseling, including intellectual property, state and federal securities actions, anti-trust, ERISA, class actions, and directors and officers liability matters. Dan also provides advice and consultation to corporate and insurance clients concerning directors and officers and specialty risk insurance coverage issues.

Dan is Managing Partner of the firm and the former President of both the Illinois Association of Defense Trial Counsel (1994-1995) and the Association of Defense Trial Attorneys (2005-2006), and a member of the Board of Directors of the Defense Research Institute. Dan is also a member of the panel of arbitrators/mediators for the American Arbitration Association, National Association of Securities Dealers and the National Futures Association, and is a member of the Professional Liability Underwriting Society. Dan has also been elected as a Fellow of the American Bar Foundation. Dan is a frequent lecturer on business issues and complex litigation.

Dan received the annual Defense Research Institute's Fred Sievert award in 1994 for Outstanding Defense Bar Leader Of The Year. Additionally, Dan has been recognized as one of the top business litigation attorneys in Illinois for the past four years, most recently in the February 2008 issue of Chicago magazine, as well as the 2008 Illinois Super Lawyers® magazine. Recently, Dan was recognized by his peers as a Leading Lawyer in a survey by Law Bulletin Publishing Company and listed on LeadingLawyers.com.

Born in Chicago, Dan received his Bachelor of Arts degree at the University of Illinois and his law degree, cum laude, from DePaul University College of Law where he was Executive Editor of the DePaul Law Review. Before entering law school, he served in The United States Navy.
