D.J. Sartorio

D.J. Sartorio is a partner in the Chicago office and a member of the firm's insurance services group, with emphasis on insurance coverage, reinsurance, professional liability, and underwriting consulting. Additionally, D.J. has extensive appellate experience across a broad range of insurance and commercial issues.

D.J. is a frequent speaker and author on topics such as insurance coverage, third-party practice and professional liability, as well as state and federal procedure, to various groups, including the American Bar Association, Chicago Bar Association, Illinois Association of Defense Trial Counsel and Illinois Institute for Continuing Legal Education.

Born in Ottawa, Illinois, D. J. received his undergraduate degree from the University of Illinois in 1978 (summa cum laude) and his law degree in 1981 (cum laude). He is a member of the Federal Trial Bar and is admitted to practice before the Seventh, Eighth, Tenth and Eleventh Circuit Courts of Appeal. He is active in the Professional Liability Underwriting Society, the Appellate Lawyers Association of Illinois and the Defense Research Institute. D.J. is also a member of the Illinois Association of Defense Trial Counsel and the American and Illinois State Bar Associations. Additionally, D.J. has been recognized as one of the top insurance coverage attorneys in Illinois for the past four years, most recently in the February 2008 issue of Chicago magazine, as well as the 2008 Illinois Super Lawyers® magazine.
