Andrew Purcell is a partner in the firm's Chicago office. His practice is focused on litigation involving torts, personal injury, products liability, construction, and complex litigation, as well as surety and fidelity law, loan collection, and mortgage foreclosures. His diverse practice is built upon a philosophy of being accessible and responsive to clients, colleagues and peers. His clients range from large corporations, municipal governments, and banks to small businesses and individuals.
Andrew has participated in more than one hundred arbitrations and mediation sessions and has individually tried numerous bench and jury trials to verdict. He has been involved in a variety of complex, high-stakes lawsuits involving multiple deaths, paralysis, severe burns and other serious injuries. His cases have involved catastrophic occurrences such as building collapse, electrocution, fires and explosions, automobile collisions, and industrial accidents. Andrew was named to the 2008 “Rising Stars” list by Illinois SuperLawyers Magazine, which recognizes top attorneys throughout the state.
Andrew is a member of the American, Illinois and Chicago Bar Associations. He is licensed to practice in Illinois and in the U.S. District Courts for the Northern and Central Districts of Illinois, the Northern District of Indiana, and the Eastern District of Wisconsin. He has also appeared in courts in Georgia, Missouri, New York, New Jersey, and Ohio.
Andrew received his undergraduate degree in Journalism, cum laude, from Eastern Illinois University. He went on to obtain his law degree from The John Marshall Law School in Chicago and received CALI Awards of Excellence for top grades in Civil Procedure I, Constitutional Law II and Secured Transactions. He was a member of the National Moot Court competition team and Staff Editor of The John Marshall Law Review where he authored, "Feeling Violated: Seventh Circuit Puts The Squeeze On Fourth Amendment Rights Of Bus Travelers," 31 J. Marshall L. Rev. 245 (1997).
Andrew is a native of Kankakee, Ill. and a graduate of Bishop McNamara High School in Kankakee, where he serves on the school board. He is a member and vice chairman of the Kankakee County Historic Preservation Commission, a third-degree member of Knights of Columbus Council 745 and St. Patrick’s Church in Kankakee, Ill. Andrew lives in Manteno, Ill. with his wife and two daughters.
