John Carver is partner in the Chicago office of Tressler LLP. John concentrates his practice in the area of first party property coverage and litigation matters. However, he has also been involved in several commercial litigation involving property damage as well as professional liability insurance defense matters, including architects and engineers, directors and officers and cases arising from construction negligence. He has conducted more than one hundred examinations under oath and has considerable experience directing the work of consultants typically retained in first party property matters. He has served as lead defense counsel in more than fifty litigated first-party and third-party property cases. He has handled both commercial and personal lines, involving employee dishonesty, theft, valuable articles, inventory loss, fraud, arson, robbery, accidental fire loss, mold and water damage. Additionally, he has experience with large loss subrogation. John has been to trial 15 times including on two first-party cases and the recent defense of a large insurer in the arbitration of a fraudulent jewelry theft claim.
John co-authors and speaks on various topics including fraud investigation techniques, first and third-party property insurance policy exclusions, civil damages and settlement negotiations. He earned his law degree from the University of Iowa College of Law and earned a B.A. from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale.
